El-Rufai Orders Banks to Close all Government Account to Remit Balance to CBN


Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai has directed all banks with government accounts to close it.

According to El-Rufai was the decision to close the accounts in order to make room for the application of uniform, TSA, which is 1 September 2015.

The governor, who also explained that the decision was part of the process to
achieve this goal, they must keep all bank accounts, the government not only alerted to close, but they were also invited to the shore on the mandate of the Central Bank of Nigeria host the status of the TSA.

He said the meeting was also attended by the controller of the branch of Kaduna State CBN.

El-Rufai said that after the creation of the TSA, the state government has specific sub-accounts opened with CBN and commercial banks.

"The presentation of bank officials assured the Governor that within five working days following receipt of the formal instructions of the government of the state, must close accounts and pay the balance of the TSA."

After thanking the banks for their continued support, the governor said that a meeting to explain to the banks, as the new TSA sub-accounts and will work is organized.

The statement also revealed that revenues selected accounts will be excluded from this directive.

It requires the government to publish the Treasury circulars and other instructions for the implementation of these decisions.
